Welcome to Barna-Coach!
Dear client,
am an experienced psychologist (PhD) based in Düsseldorf, Barcelona and Granada, and I would be pleased to support you on your path to greater well-being and personal growth. On the following pages, you can learn more about my areas of specialisation and the services I offer at my practice.
There may be times when you struggle to find a solution to a problem or feel that something needs to change. As an experienced therapist, I will listen to your concerns with empathy and care – and together, we will draw on evidence-based methods to find an approach tailored to your needs and aimed at lasting improvement.
Here, you can explore the therapy and coaching methods I use, which go beyond discussing problems to focus on meaningful change and practical solutions. My entire work and all the tools I use are consistently based on the latest scientific research.
The first session is free of charge and comes with no obligation to continue. Together, we will then explore whether short-term support may be sufficient or whether longer-term work would be more helpful.
I look forward to hearing from you and will be happy to take the time to answer your questions.
Yours sincerely,
Dr. Dipl.-Psych. Didi Schmidt, PhD

Ideally, a good therapist should work with methods from various modern "schools of therapy", depending on the problem and the individual patient. However, these methods should be scientifically recognised and effective; they are primarily behavioural and solution-oriented techniques. Psychodynamic techniques can also be highly successful if they are solution-oriented.
Scientific research on therapy has shown that, in addition to an empathetic therapeutic relationship and sufficient social contacts for the patient or client, the following four factors contribute to successful therapy:
- Active, solution-oriented support in overcoming problems: Clients are actively encouraged to try out and practise helpful patterns of behaviour and thinking.
- Resource activation: Drawing on the strengths of the client and their social environment (context).
- Talking about the problem openly and calmly: Difficulties can be expressed clearly and with emotional authenticity in therapy, and the therapist seeks to understand the client's suffering.
- Seeing inner dynamics more clearly: Gaining insight into and understanding of inner psychological dynamics, and learning to deal with them.
In my therapeutic work, I take all of these factors into account, so that you can achieve the best possible results in the shortest possible time and restore your balance with yourself and the world.
